International Customs Day 

International customs day is celebrated every year on 26 january.  It is a day to recognise the role of custom officials and agencies in maintaining the goods across the world’s border. This day was marked by the world customs organization in 1953 during the session of the customs cooperation council (CCC) which was held in brussels ,belgium.

17 european countries attended that session. In 1994 the CCC was renamed as world custom organisation (WCO) and 179 countries are WCO members.


This day is focused on the working condition of challenges that customs officers face in their jobs . International custom day is a day organised by WCO. in 1994, 26 january, WCO celebrates the 30th anniversary of international custom day.

Customs is the agency in a country responsible for collecting tariffs. Customs also controls the flow of goods or material into and out of the country. These goods or material can be anything from animals to hazardous materials to personal items.


The World custom organisation helps us to make customs administration around the world more efficient.  The headquarter of world customs organisation in brussels, belgium. Three-quarters of the members are from developing countries. They are responsible for managing more than 98% of world trade. To recognise the great effort of custom officers who have to beard many problems in their job because of different customs.

The International Customs Day (ICD) on 26 January 2020 has been dedicated to the contribution of Customs towards a long lasting future for us where social, economic, health and environmental needs are the closest to the heart of their action, with the slogan “ customs fostering sustainability for people, prosperity and the planet”.
